kontraptionist: Jon made these on the CNC mill here at the shop… And they’re fully awesome. rushdesign: These are the fun projects to work on. Salt and pepper shaker set in solid mahogany for Sarah Quinn, another Pratt Institute Industrial Design program student. Each is 1.5” across, ~3” tall. Fully machined on all sides. These are going to look even better once they are sanded and oiled. Mahogany is a joy to work with- unlike most woods, the grain does not tend to tear out and cause destroyed parts and massive frustration. It is still the material of choice for sand-casting patterns which need to be cheap, light, and easy to machine. Right now these are not available for sale, but as soon as they are I will post up a link. Also, if you need to make something like this, please don’t hesitate to email us ad design@rushdesign.net

deardesigner: Dear Ed,   I don’t usually do the whole tumblr ‘reblog’ thang, but I LOVE this shot from the louis vuitton spring campaign.  First of all, yes please let pastels come back!  They remind me of the 60’s, and candy hearts, and ice cream, and lots of other great girly things like that.  Second of all, check out that that ice cream on the table!!  In my imagination the girls finish their conversation and then concentrate intensely on eating those confections, sitting back to back and going in weird sugar comas.  Aaaaugh the lace collars!  The done-but-undone buns!  I like it.  calivintage: daria strokous & kati nescher for louis vuitton spring 2012 campaign by steven meisel.

I’ve been wanting new headphones for a while, so I was super jazzed when Bowers & Wilkins sent me a pair of these bad boys to try out! And let me just tell you — they are incredible! The sound on the Bower & Wilkins P5’s is on a whole other level from any headphones I’ve ever owned. Everything sounds better. EVERYTHING! Even talking on the phone (the cord has a built in mic). The design is subtle. I don’t feel like a ground controller at the airport when I have them on. They lay flush on my ears so people around me can’t hear how loud I’m listening to music. The leather casing and memory foam ear pads block a lot of external noise and make them super comfortable. I wear them pretty much all day and they haven’t irritated me once, which is usually my number one complaint.  Now the best part — To get a pair for yourself, go on Facebook and share this post. You’ll be entered to win a pair of P5 headphones for yourself!
